If you’re experienced with sex toys already then this might seem like an obvious question with a simple answer, but for many people (whether couples or the single sex toy fan) it can be incredibly intimidating to tackle a big dildo, and for very clear reasons.
Girth is often as intimidating, if not more so, than size…Combine the two together and you have a hefty package waiting to be tackled! But, the fun with large dildos comes in the reward for all of that effort you put into getting it inside its destination… Not only the feeling of reward, but the obvious pleasure that comes with a larger sex toy inside of you.
Whether you’re inserting anally or vaginally, or even just practicing oral sex for a precursor to foreplay with a well-endowed partner, these tips will help you to ease your way into tackling that girthy monster taking up the most room in your sex toy draw.
Learn Your Limits
This is especially important if you’re new to using larger toys, or just toys in general. I’d even recommend you use your fingers first to relax the area in question, or use smaller toys (more on that point later) prior to a larger insertion. But, learning your limits means not forcing a larger toy inside, which can result in tears and injury (and an awkward conversation at the doctors).
Learning your limits means being willing to take the time to work up to bigger toys, and not being frustrated if you can’t get a larger toy in within the first several attempts. Like anything worth having in life, these things take time. And, as an avid large dildo user myself, trust me when I say that it’s worth every inch of the wait.
You Know To Use Lube…But Use More!
When it comes to playing with larger toys, you can never have enough lubricant. Water-based lubricant is preferred as it isn’t likely to be an irritant, and you can easily purchase this type of lube in large amounts (and you’re going to need it when taking on a larger toy).
Also, I’d recommend lubing up both the receiving orifice and the toy itself, not just one or the other. There’s really no such thing as too much lube, and by using more lube you’re reducing the likelihood of any injury too.
Start Small
Most people, prior to playing with toys, will tend to masturbate until they want to play with as close to the real thing as possible. This is great if you’re already playing with your partner and foreplay is part of your sexual activity, as you’re much more likely to be ready for a larger toy.
If it’s just you playing alone, then I’d recommend you buy something like a dildo starter set with varying sizes (I’ve got a few of these). If it’s anal, you can start with butt plugs and smaller dildos to warm up, before graduating to the larger sizes.
Rubber fists have also exploded in popularity in recent years, and the same rules apply. Starting small ensures that your body is relaxing and becoming accustomed to the growing sizes, and again reduces any potential for injury. You know what they say… don’t try to run before you can walk!
Choose A Comfortable Position
Far be it from me to recommend a position to you. As a personal favourite I opt for missionary to then ease on to my larger toys, but this wont work for everyone.
Some people favour being penetrated when they’re lying on their side, others love the stretching feeling of squatting over their large dildos and really being ‘filled-up’.
Whatever the position, remember to use lube and more lube, and take your time!
Questions I often get asked about big dildos (especially when I tell people about my bad dragon collection)
Why do some people prefer large dildos?
For many people, they will opt for larger dildos after experimenting with things like a beginners set, then look to move on to something more challenging. Others just want the feeling of being ‘stretched’, and nothing offers that more than a dildo that packs a whole load of length and girth.
Are rubber fists and horse dildos safe?
These types of sex toys are not for the faint of hearted, but if you follow my tips then you won’t have anything to worry about so long as you’re not a beginner and are ready to take your time in order to build up to larger sizes. They’re also much, much safer than making your own sex toy.
Will a large dildo stretch me permanently?
There’s no evidence to suggest that usage of larger dildos can cause permanent stretching. You’ve no doubt heard the horror stories of things like anal prolapsing, which is a result of serious issues that require medical attention, and not something that should be part of your goal when using large toys.
But, be assured that with safe usage that even regular sessions with your largest of toys will not cause a lasting stretch, wherever the destination of your dildo may be.
