A Guide To The Best Bondage Cages & Home BDSM Furniture

Wait… There’s actually bondage cages you can keep in your home?

Yes! That was my first thought too. The second one was, where am I going to hide my new cage when the parents come to visit.

Perhaps lie and say you have a particularly large dog (don’t get me started on my recent post on dog knot dildos either)… Either way, cages are a real thing and for those already a part of the BDSM scene or looking to invest into some premium equipment to cement your kinky status, a bondage cage or some BDSM home furnishings are certainly the way to do it.

Why buy a bondage cage?

Assuming you have the room, a cage can be used for a multitude of different reasons, and to satisfy a variety of different kinks. Some of the more commonly explored are:

  • Beginners BDSM roles
  • Dominant and submissive play
  • Pet play
  • An introduction to confinement, chastity and breath play
  • Bondage
  • Live-in slaves for submissive types who want to be fully owned by a dominant partner
  • Confinement for electro sex toy play

What if i don’t have the room for a cage?

In an ideal world, we all would…but we often are stuck for space! I’ve made sure to also include smaller benches and chairs in this guide, alongside items that can easily be stored or disguised to that you’re not having to explain your new purchase to the neighbours when they pop round for their monthly Sunday dinner.

Anyway, let’s have a look at my top selections…

My 10 favourite BDSM cages, benches & home furniture items

Sometimes simple designs just win the day, and that’s certainly the case with this beauty. Made from excellent quality steel, with a raw metal finish, it looks absolutely gorgeous, and is more than strong enough for your wildest fantasies.

The cage is 68cm high, 55cm wide, and 46cm deep, so pretty small – you’ll want to measure yourself or your partner before you go for it, just to make sure the fit is ok. When inside, the head will stick out, while the body stays trapped within. It weighs 15kg, so won’t be too hard to move, and will look great in whatever corner of your room you choose to put it!

A beautiful, handmade orgasm tower, this thing will be sure to get your blood pumping. Each one is made to order, so you can specify any height requirements, but it’s also adjustable, allowing for precise fitting to each occupant.

It’s finished in bare steel for a strong, sparse look, which really suits the aesthetic, and the whole thing dismantles into manageable sized pieces for easy transportation and storage. It has a traditional neck clamp, ankle restraints, and a fitting to attach your wand to. If required, an additional wand arm can be included!

BDSM benches can offer a whole lot of fun, with an incredible variety of positions and restraints available. If you’re looking for a great quality bench, this is a solid option – the frame is made of strong, black powder coated steel, with easily cleanable faux leather padding. It’s 70cm high, 75cm wide, and 115cm deep, with added adjustability.

There are anchor points throughout for whatever restraints you like, and you can either buy the bench by itself, or with various belts and leg holders, depending on how many restraints (if any) you already have.

Another great BDSM cage, with slightly more bells and whistles than the first one reviewed, this one isn’t quite as minimalist. At 75cm high, 55cm wide, and 95cm long, it’s a fair bit bigger, and also has a padded floor, making it suitable for even longer sessions of play.

The padded board is removable, and can be placed wherever – if you ask the manufacturers, they can provide a second one as well. It comes with four locks, for lots of added security, this cage is built for hard use – get it and test its limits!

The main thing that stands out on these clamps is the clamp design itself. For those who are bored of the usual screw and pin style clamps, these offer a nice change – an excellent way to expand your collection and feel some new sensations.

The clamps are intricately designed, with a satisfying release action, and each clamp end is covered with a gently bumped surface for added intensity. The clamps aren’t adjustable, which is wonderful if you want a really tight squeeze, but not so amazing if you have larger nipples or just don’t fancy going all the way to maximum pain levels.

This specialist bondage cage is perfect for those looking for a tight restriction. The shape may seem unfamiliar – a trapezium rather than the traditional cuboid – but it does have its advantages. When sitting in the cage, the narrower head and shoulders area means that a change of position is impossible, and it really pulls you in. It’s made from steel, and is 100cm high, 50cm wide, and 50cm deep (at its largest point.)

This bed borders on ridiculous, but depending on which side you place it, could be the definition of perfection. The construction quality is incredible, made from fir, cedar, or steel, this thing is built to last, and to look good while it does so.

It has adjustable pilgrim stocks, four restraint loops, four sling loops, and a cage located under the bed with a lockable door. You can specify what material you want it made from when you order it, and can ask it to be painted or stained in any colour or finish you like.

For those who prefer wood to metal, this will make an incredibly appealing option for a BDSM bench. Made from solid pine wood, it can either be stained or painted with three coats of your colour of preference.

The pads are made covered in faux leather, which is both plush and easy to clean. It comes with 10 real leather shackles, and 20 O-ring attachments which can facilitate pretty much any restraint you could possibly imagine.

While benches are versatile, bondage tables are perhaps even more so. This table does it all, with a gorgeous padded top, and cage underneath. The tabletop comes with 12 different adjustable buckle straps, with a choice of colours, so you can restrain ankles, legs, wrists, chest, and waist – pretty much anything you can imagine. You can either have the wooden frame stained or painted, the choice is up to you!

Finally, we have this incredible orgasm tower, to proudly display your partner and do to them as you will. With ankle, wrist, and neck restraints, there’s not a chance of escape, and the wide, square base means it stands steady no matter what the restrained tries to do. At 180cm in height, it’s big enough for pretty much anyone, and has dildo and vibrator arms to adjust as you please. A seriously impressive orgasm tower!

How to use & advice for beginners new to BDSM

BDSM can be incredibly fun and rewarding, but also potentially dangerous, so it’s very important that you approach it safely. As well as establishing set safewords and the like, be sure to know what kinds of restraints are dangerous and which are safe – how tight you can do up neck restraints for example.

Switching up the dom/sub relationship can always be fun, between the two of you there are almost limitless ways to integrate these toys into your sex life, making things as spicy as you like. There are heaps of articles out there to give you ideas and help you stay safe – have a search around, you don’t have to look far for inspiration!

Prices

Cages and BDSM furniture are reasonably advanced in terms of commitment. Normally, you’ll start off with simpler and cheaper restraints and toys, and work your way up to these kinds of things. Not only are cages, benches, and BDSM beds large (they certainly can’t be put in a drawer like a whip or cuffs,) they’re also potentially very expensive.

Most of the options on this list are in the mid hundred range, but a couple of the beds top the £1000 mark – one custom bed coming in at over £4000!

That’s quite a commitment, but if you know it’s what you want, absolutely go for it, there’s nothing quite like having some custom build kit that fits your dimensions and desires just perfectly. Also, if you’re getting a bed, don’t think of it just as a sex toy expense – if you’re sleeping on it every night, it’s living expense as well!

Cleaning

Keeping these bits of it clean is very important, and most of them are quite easy on that front. The steel surfaces will wipe down with ease, as will the faux leather. Always make sure you use the appropriate surface cleaners so as not to leave any marks – not all chemicals may be suitable for use with bare steel for example!

When cleaning the wooden items, the same rule applies – make sure it’s suitable for wood, or whatever kind of paint or lacquer the wood is painted with, these bits of furniture are expensive and it would be a shame to ruin them!

Storage

This may be the trickiest part for some of us, as most of these things aren’t exactly petite. If you’re this committed to BDSM though, chances are you won’t struggle too much finding space. You might find that you have a designated basement or attic, or just accept that your bedroom is now your sex palace.

Either way, it’s something to think about before you purchase – carefully consider where you’d put each item before you click buy, or returning them might be a bit of a nightmare.

As mentioned above, these items are more suited for the BDSM experts among us, but that isn’t to say that anyone couldn’t have a lot of fun!

If you’re looking to spice up your sex life and you have space in your house or flat, then go for it – you’ll find yourself inspired, and trying out things you’d never thought to try before. Go for it and I highly doubt you’ll be disappointed
